Lapton Construction - Traditional values; modern approach

Lamton Construction is an independent building company,
bringing a refreshingly new approach to contracting

About us

With more than 60 years combined experience working with some of the industry’s leading blue-chip contractors and developers, Stephen Porter and Peter Burton established Lamton Construction in 2014 to provide construction clients with a new and alternate delivery partner for construction services.

With decades of experience working at Carillion plc, Persimmon Homes, Galliard Homes and Space Group , Peter and Steve have wide experience across many construction sectors with specific expertise on both new build and refurbishment residential, commercial and hotel projects.

Peter Burton

Peter has over 28 years’ experience across all sectors of the construction and property development industry including residential, health, education, retail, commercial and industrial. After learning his trade as a Quantity Surveyor at Carillion where he spent almost 16 years, he joined Persimmon Homes in 2002 – initially as Commercial Manager/Director and latterly as Managing Director of Special Projects - responsible for the development of all large multi-storey city-centre apartment schemes in England and Wales. Following 10 years at Persimmon, Peter joined Central London developer, Mount Anvil, as Commercial Director in 2012 with responsibility for the Commercial Team and all commercial aspects of the business ranging from build contracts to development agreements, starting at bidding stage through to final delivery. In October 2014, Peter left Mount Anvil and established Lamton Construction Limited with Steve.

Stephen Porter

Steve is an experienced property professional with over 28 years’ experience in the construction and development industry. After starting work with a PQS firm, and working as a QS at Haymills and TCL Granby, he worked within a family business for a number of years, carrying out sub-contract and construction works for main contractors and developers. Steve then spent 8 years working as Commercial Manager for Galliard Homes on many major projects - many in excess of £50m – with a further 2 years as Construction Director of Space Group developing hotels and leisure schemes predominantly in France. He joined Martin Construction as Commercial Director in 2010, heading up their Central London office with responsibility for all construction operations. Steve left Martin Construction in 2014 to establish Lamton Construction with Peter.
